Chain BlockFunction introduction

Too Many Cooks, developer FINIFUGU's award-winning co-op cooking game, has finally launched for iOS and Android. I've heard nothing but good things about this one, and based on the trailer alone, it looks like a fun time.

The idea is that you'll be challenged to create complex dishes within a strict time limit. Things can get pretty hectic in no time flat, especially when you're cooking alongside five other players.
Our first game Too Many Cooks [email protected] is FINALLY available for iOS and Android!! (after a VEEERY long 1.5 years-ish!) With no build-up. WHAM!! ????We've crafted T.M.Cooks to bring together friends and family, so please enjoy shouting with/at your loved ones! #indiedev pic.twitter.com/hAv6vkyoJk— Jai's GAME IS (finally) OUT (@FINIFUGU) April 3, 2020Some of the dishes you'll be tasked to create include burgers, pizza, and sushi, and you'll often have to assemble everything from scratch. Expect to do a lot of chopping and cleaning on the side. Thankfully, you can pass tasks along to another player when it inevitably becomes a bit too much to handle.

Quick and efficient communication is key to victory here, but you should still probably expect your kitchen to descend into chaos with worrying regularity. It's all part of the fun, though.

Its general cuteness is no doubt greatly enhanced by the addition of unlockable cosmetic items. These range from fancy hats and clothes to new hairstyles and even facial expressions.

Kairosoft has put a few of its iOS games on a limited time sale, including the Silver Award-winning Game Dev Story.

We're not sure of the reason for this sale but it seems likely that it's the studio's way of celebrating the new year. That's probably what it is.

It includes three games with an 85 percent discount making them only 69p / 99c. And a fourth game has a 60 percent discount at £1.49 / $1.99.

Below is the small list of games on sale with our reviews linked to them if you want to know what we think of them:
Game Dev Story [buy on iOS for 69p / 99c]Venture Towns [buy on iOS for 69p / 99c]Hot Springs Story [buy on iOS for 69p / 99c]Dungeon Village [buy on iOS for £1.49 / $1.99]
Oh, and if you're on Android, Game Dev Story is still going for cheap at 53p / 99c on Google Play [buy] as part of the Google Play Sale.

The Lion and the Dolphin
And makes her absence valiant, not her might.
The Boys and the FrogsWHEN A FOX who had never yet seen a Lion, fell in with him by chance for the first time in the forest, he was so frightened that he nearly died with fear. On meeting him for the second time, he was still much alarmed, but not to the same extent as at first. On seeing him the third time, he so increased in boldness that he went up to him and commenced a familiar conversation with him.
"How is poor old Aunt Mandy tonight?" asked Miss Cornelia.

My hands pump in my peripheral vision as I gain tremendous speed across FOTONICA's first level, Brenta. It throws railroads at me is if I were a train.

I find out why when I hit a speed threshold and the black-and-white line art turns yellow. Suddenly, my head swells with endorphins, and I'm travelling close to 90mph on foot.

I forget to breathe for a few seconds.

FOTONICA is a first-person arcade platformer making its way over to iOS after winning folks over on PC (including me).

The changing contours of its abstract levels are as beautiful as ever on my iPad. I soon notice that as the tracks move into view they're significantly more alive with emergent details and animations than on PC.

Cliffs swell into view with a daunting presence. Spirals of squares create tunnels to run though. Small plinths pop up like daggers on the side of an industrial road. These are alien landscapes as seen through the severity of the New Aesthetic.

Then there's the engulfing darkness below where you never want to fall. But will, inevitably - this is a hard game to keep up with at times.

Despite all of this twisting architecture demanding your attention you don't have much time to concentrate on it. Instead, you're focusing on a single point in the middle of the screen as you travel at blistering speed.

Even though the single touch controls are flawless, it only takes a blink for you to mess up what could have been your best run yet. Intense is the right word for it.

I've fallen countless times already, my character letting out a agonized grunt as their hands reach out for the platform we missed. I've been playing with just my thumb on the screen to run, and letting go to jump into the air, over the huge chasms.

This week, Ric and James embark upon BIG CHAT regarding the future of mobile, and whether streaming and subscription services will replace traditional downloads.

There's also coverage of new mobile and Switch releases like The Stillness of the Wind, Revolve8, Away: Journey to the Unexpected, and more.
Download episode 474:
(right click to save-as, left click to play)
